US Rep Biggert Endorses Sen Kirk Dillard for Re-Election

United States Congresswoman Judy Biggert (IL-13th) strongly endorsed Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) in Dillard’s race for re-election to the 24th Senatorial District. Biggert, the Chairman of the Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, represents many of the towns in the redistricted 24th Illinois Senatorial District.

Biggert’s work on the Financial Services Committee provides her with unique insight into the problems faced by Illinois government. Highlighting Dillard’s leadership in budget matters, Biggert noted, “I can say from first-hand experience that Kirk’s style of government is ‘if you can't afford it, you can't spend it.’ I like that.” While working as former Gov. Jim Edgar’s Chief of Staff, Dillard helped turn a deficit of $1.5B into a $1B surplus, all without an income tax increase.

“We must reform our pension system, repeal the 67% income tax hike, and control the excessive spending, borrowing and taxing policies of the current administration if we are to have any hope of spurring private-sector economic growth and job creation in Illinois,” said Dillard. Dillard is the author of the Illinois Senate plan, “30 Tips…” that lays out the Republican plan for economic growth in Illinois.

“We must return Kirk to Springfield to continue to work on the important and difficult issues facing Illinois. It is critical for our community to have an experienced and respected Senator in Springfield developing clear policy objectives,” Biggert concluded.

Dillard said that he was honored to receive the strong endorsement of his Congressional colleague. “Congresswoman Biggert is someone who clearly “gets it” on the economy. She is the Midwest leader on the advancement of science and technology for industry,” Dillard said. “I look forward to working with her as we both strive to make Illinois a “Destination Economy” for job creators.”

Dillard served with distinction as Chief of Staff to former Governor Jim Edgar and currently represents the 24th Illinois Senate District. Municipalities included in the newly redistricted 24th Senate District are Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbook Terrace, Western Springs, Westmont, Wheaton and Willowbrook.

Presidential Candidates File [ or don't ] for Illinois' March 20 Presidential Primary

Today, Jan 6, is the deadline for filing your delegate slate for the March 20, Presidential Primary in Illinois.

INTERESTINGLY... THREE groups filed slates for the Obama delegates, so the state Democratic Party will have to inform the Board of Elections, which slate is the one intended to represent the party and the President.

As per the Republican candidates, from what we now know.... Romney's delegate slate was filed in full earlier in the week, meaning he could pick up as many at 54 delegates.

Some campaigns are not filing a delegate slate - including the Perry campaign. Although, Gov Perry's name WILL appear on the ballot. So what that means is, even if Perry were to win the state's vote count, it would be to no real effect in terms of winning delegates that would be applied to his getting the nomination. It's a beauty contest for Perry.

Santorum folks had yet to apply as of this writing, but may be in the Board of Elections in Springfield as this is being posted, as the deadline is just 18 mins away. The expectation was that Santorum's campaign was making an effort to also post a full delegate count.

Ron Paul's campaign also filed a full slate, so he's in the hunt.

Again -- 54 GOP delegates are at stake. Each campaign has to get 600 signatures per congressional district, in which they hope to elect delegates.

Unlike Virginia, where he failed to get on the ballot, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is expected to file a full slate -- but this is unconfirmed at this point.

Former Louisiana Gov Buddy Roemer -- a former Democrat -- has also filed, but we understand it's a partial slate of delegates, having not collected the required signatures in all the congressional districts... which is btw, a hard thing to do given that certain areas, like Bobby Rush's first congressional district, may not have 600 Republicans in the entire district ! Perhaps, I exaggerate !

Jim Ryan Endorses Kirk Dillard in his ReElection Bid to IL Senate

In a letter to residents of the Illinois 24th Senatorial District, former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan and several noteworthy leaders endorsed Illinois State Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Westmont) in his bid for reelection. Considered one of the most successful prosecutors in the state, Ryan has earned the respect and admiration of many throughout Illinois.

Ryan called Dillard, “One of the finest and most honorable people I have known.” He cited Dillard’s work when Ryan was Attorney General, specifically Dillard’s sponsorship of Ryan’s “Safe to Learn” Act which helps ensure children’s school safety. “Few people in politics earn the respect that Senator Dillard has over his distinguished career.” The readers of West Suburban Living voted Dillard to be the local politician with the most integrity. Ryan went on to say, “We need a Senator that has the broad experience, proper demeanor, and integrity to represent the entire district. Senator Dillard is clearly that person.”

Ryan describes how Dillard has helped the residents throughout the 24th Senate District. Ryan outlined how Dillard, working with local officials, obtained the funds to improve North Avenue, St. Charles Road and Butterfield Road/22nd Street, assisted with the purchase of Elmhurst Stone Quarry for Elmhurst flood abatement, and helped obtain the renovation monies for York Community High School. Ryan called Dillard a “workhorse” on complex issues in Illinois.

In addition to Ryan, others endorsing Dillard in the letter include former Illinois House Speaker Lee Daniels, John, Sr. and Reva Lizzadro, former Elmhurst Police Chief and current Illinois State Senator John Millner, and the late Congressman Henry Hyde’s son, Anthony.

After receiving the news of his endorsement, Dillard said, “I am humbled to receive the endorsements. It is an honor that these community leaders are supporting me in my reelection efforts. I am completely committed to continuing serving this area.”

Dillard currently represents the 24th Illinois Senate District. Municipalities included in the newly redistricted 24th Senate District are Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Lombard, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Oakbook Terrace, Westmont, Wheaton and Willowbrook. Dillard is a longtime resident of Hinsdale, where he lives with his wife Stephanie and their two young daughters.

Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady on Gov Quinn's FY 2012 Budget

"Pat Quinn tried to frame himself as a fiscal conservative in his budget address today. However, the rhetoric of this speech was empty, as his words do not match up with his policies, or reality for that matter. The fact remains that Pat Quinn has not proposed any specific, substantial budget cuts that are necessary to restore financial order. His only solutions continue to be borrowing against the future of Illinois and raising taxes.

"Governor Quinn glossed over the 66% income tax hike as a 'new revenue law' - a tax increase that will cost average citizens thousands of dollars that they just cannot afford right now, and also kill Illinois jobs. What he proved today is that he still does not grasp the gravity of the financial mess that Illinois is in, and the devastating effects that it is having on taxpayers and small businesses.

"Governor Quinn speaks as if the problems that plague Illinois were on someone else's watch - but in fact they have accumulated during his administration and that when he served as Lieutenant Governor under Rod Blagojevich. It's time he get serious about the reality of the situation and make the difficult decisions needed to get Illinois back to work. Quinn said today: 'Saying no is not enough, unless you are willing to offer new alternatives.' In fact is is Governor Quinn who is not offering new alternatives - just the same old 'borrow more, spend more, tax more.'"
